I've seen the guys at WAC in Bangkok using these and now someone has started a thread over on Autopia about them. Just wondering if anyone over here has used one?

I'm thinking they could be easier to get to grips with than a true rotary as you can look straight down the spindle to the pad, thus helping to keep it flat. I also imagine it's considerably easier to use on vertical panels than a normal rotary as well.

TBH I can't really see exactly what difference you would really get. Haven't looked at Autopia yet, but surely if your head is over the top of the pad you get the same view regardless of how the machine works the spindle.

I also don't know how the PC type works, but I can understand there could be an advantage in not having to turn the power through 90 degrees, not so much from a users point of view, more from a technical standpoint.
