Hi Ant

ISO relates to film speed in the traditional film formats

iso100 in good light will deliver very crisp, sharp results with vivid colours

ISO100 in poor light will result in very long shutterspeeds and you won't get a good picture - the image won't be worth having.

At the opposite end of the scale iso1600 will give average results in good light - the images will be quite grainy, however the image should be useable whereas you would have no hope with the iso 100 in poor light.

In poor light the images will still be grainy but useable and you can happily shoot without flash and get half decent pics.

The other ISO's 400 and 800 will be 'inbetween'

MF is manual focus - best to leave for now

Whack it to iso400 and C-AF and you won't go far wrong :thumb:

Keep the ISO on automatic unless you are getting problems with image graining or blurry pictures. The camera should pick between 100 and 400 for most situations.

With the focus, the MF will be manual, C-AF is continous autofocus, and S-AF
is single autofocus.

S-AF should be fine for normal shooting. C-AF will lock onto an object, and continuously refocus the object as it moves (uesful for sporting events and fast moving subjects).

Shooting car paint, you may find the camera is focusing on the reflection or the imperfections when you want the other. Use manual focus here, to override what the camera is trying to do.

Hope this helps.

Brazo, yep the different manufacturers use different names for the options. I thought it was centre focus first until I checked. ;)
