Thought I may aswell have a go :)

Detailed a friends Fiesta for him last week, so thought I’d do a quick write up and a few pictures just to share the experience with you.
He dropped of the Fiesta with me and it didn’t look to bad, it’s had a reasonably easy life and only covered 21,000 miles.
First up was to wash the Fiesta, soaking with SSF and PBS&S mix while I cleaned the alloys using a weak mixture of Virossol, then rinse and wash using the 2 bucket method and rinse off using a open hose. Body work now washed I foamed again using the Gilmour and another mix of SSF and PBS&S to allow me to clay the car without using lots of detailing spray as lube, I followed this with another 2 bucket wash and then dried using a WW drying towel and some last touch detailing spray.
At this point I then took paint thickness readings all over the Fiesta, most of the Fiesta was between 160-200 microns which was fine, the bit that worried me was the rear passenger wing which read between 70-100 microns, decided to get on with the rest of the car and then worry about the rear wing later.
First off I tried some #80 on a white SFX pad (anybody who’s read any of my previous posts will know it’s a favourite combo of mine), this combination gave a nice finish and removed 95% of the defects and only removed around 1 micron, after talking to the owner it was decided that he was more than happy with that finish so I continued with combination.
There was a nasty chip in the paint on the driver’s door and as I had the Fiesta for a week to detail (long story) I filled the chip with paint and left for 24 hours, I then applied some clear and again left for 24 hours. On the day I was going to polish the drivers door I wet sanded the chip flat around the edges first before polishing, quite happy with the results but would use more touch up next time.
Durability of finish was quite important on this detail so I went for a Collinite wax, after hearing all the good things about 915 and seeing Jace’s Golf pictures I decided that would do nicely, applied using a foam applicator and buffed off with a plush microfibre.
Tyres trimed with PB Bold & Bright, trim treated with some Williams trim gel (must get some decent trim gel).

Anyway enough of my waffle here are some picture’s (Not to many before due to time and weather, sorry) and thanks for reading

Wet sanded (there were several small chips to the side and below as well as the large one so I didn’t go mad with the wet sanding, even though it looks like I did honest)
