As I've a few queries with Intensive polish and FPII I might aswell post in the currently "underused" section:D

I've used these polishes a couple of times and they didn't work as I'd hoped they would.
Simple things like:
Do you mist the PC pad initially with water/qd or leave it dry? I've seen conflicting answers on other forums.
How long would I expect to work these polishes before they break down/go clear? They seem to me to dry dust very quickly - what speeds are best?
I think FPII is a great polish in the right hands and I want to do the Yaris, but I don't want a  situation at the end of it.
Many thanks, Peter

Intrested in your findings for the FPII, as thats one I want to try next season.

I've got IP, FP & PO85.

IP's my go to polish on the 205 as it removes everything and leaves a crystal like finish. FP simply deepens this although TBH I find it rather sterile on a black car if that makes sense.

Application - I don't mist the pad initially but tend to keep a QD handy as I work around the car. IP will buff out using a MF like normal but FP can be a bit of a sod to remove - I've even had to resort to meths on the MF before now. Trick seems to be to work both in until they're almost gone (esp the IP) and they work really well.

And don't ever use them in direct sunlight - FP left marring behind after my frantic efforts to remove like no other product I've used.

PO85's strange and I plan to use it more on a little project I'm working on over the winter (anyone remember the knackered blue 3 series over at autopia?)

Thanks for your info Andy.
I'm also wondering about the PC speed as maybe the polish is dusting before its done its work. Surely I should be able to work it for more than a minute or so?

I usually start low (say around 2), spread the IP around then bump up to 4 then 5.5/6 - I can usually work it for about a minute and it's done. FP can be worked for slightly longer at lower speed (say aorund 4.5) - the trick with FP is to get it to almost disappear into the paint - a bit like RMG or similar.

PO85 - not had much of a chance to really play with this stuff yet

Andy you tried it out on the Rotary yet I think sean (gsrstilez) seems to find it easier this way?

Also a range I need lol!

TBH mate I'm working almost entirely by PC at the moment. The Makita is quicker for sure, but only on really bad paint. If it's simply light to moderate swirling, the PC's just as fast, if not slightly quicker  all in the wrist action I guess......:D

I'll be using IP on the car scheduled for today - FP needs to have perfect conditions (i.e. dry, mild and shade) otherwise it cakes up like a **** and is very hard to remove. IP's my go to polish on the 205 now - leaves a crystal like finish and is *very* good at removing almost anything.

A Menzerna order is likely to be made shortly - have spoken to C&S :)

I use IP, FPII and PO85RD. I've not really used any other polishes other than these three Menzerna's for a while now. FPII and PO85RD are the muts nuts IMO, although I can't personally see any difference between FPII and PO85RD, but maybe that's just me?

As for how long to work them before they "break down/go clear", this is a pretty difficult question to answer, as it will depend on rotary or PC usage, speed and pad selection. When I use FPII/PO85RD with the PC, I'll use it on a polishing pad and after spreading over the panel I can usually work it for a couple of minutes on speed 5, slightly less on speed 6, before it's done it's job. Removal of FPII and PO85RD is never a problem as long as you use a damp MF (which is stated on the back of the bottle).

I never have a problem with any of them in any temperature as long as I'm working in the shade. I certainly agree that IP does tend to dust up quite quickly, especially in warmer weather. I also never use water or QD for wetting the pad. I always prime the pad with the product I'm using, this goes for virtually every product I use.

can't personally see any difference between FPII and PO85RD, but maybe that's just me?

FPII ( PO85U ) get´s in Menzerna Scale , 3 for cut and 4 for gloss. PO85RD 1 for cut and 5 for gloss.
Thats why you don´t see a huge diference between them, but in darks colors you can see that difference ;)

All the Menzerna line IMHO are easy to work and anchieve the best results.

I use PG , IP, FPII and FF ( PO85RD ) only in my details, and now im testing the PO106FF ( similar to FF but with a bigger cutting ability and maded for ceramic clear ).

I leave here Menzerna table for some polishes.

cut gloss

PG - PO S 34 5 1
IP - PO 91L 3,5 3
FPII-PO85U 3 4
FF - PO85RD 1 5
PO106FF 2,5 5

Akele abraço

Thanks guys! It gives me more confidence to use IP/FP (if I can get a whole day off with decent weather!):)
