View Full Version : Backing plates and pads with holes in the middle
So where are these readily available in the UK? I'm tired of aligning my pads to my rotary by total guess work! Typically the backing plate Meg's UK supply isn't the same as the US one so it doesn't have the "dimple" in the middle.
I know LC pads have the hole, but their backing plate doesn't. Anyone know where I can get the backing plates from? If I can't find some I'll have to start looking into using the Edge 2000 system.

I've never come across any UK backing plates with the little 'thingy' in the middle. I've looked for those in the past.
The easiest pads to align in my experience, are the 6.5" Paradise pads from Detailers Paradise as the velcro backing on them is pretty much exactly the same size as a 5" rotary backing plate, so they're alot easier to get centred.
I've also got the Edge 2000 system for my rotary which as you can imagine takes all the guess work out of it and you always get perfectly centred pads. But I'm just not too keen on the Edge pads, although I haven't tried the large Edge 2000 pads as yet.

Not sure if i've got the wrong end of the stick here, bit since it's random orbital, I've always assumed there isn't any problem with the pad being a bit off centre - it's just a bit more random!
Am I doing the wrong thing??
