View Full Version : Moving on from AG SRP & EGP

A mate of mine is just about running out of his latest two bottle of AG SRP and EGP and would like to try something else. What's the next logical product to "upgrade" to?

The car in question is a re-sprayed and lacquered VW Beetle. The paint itself is in good condition but it does need to be stripped back and clayed before anything else goes on.

All work is being done by hand.

Cheers

Paul

Megs DC#1 as a paint cleaner followed by NXT works well and is easily available in most towns over the counter. If he wants to get into mail order products then the combinations are almost endless. A nice wax over the top like P21s would finish it off as well.

This is one of those questions where you will get 20 different answers and none of them will be wrong:)

theres loads of stuff out there , i used to like vanilla moose hand glaze then exp sealant (which i would now swop with megs #21 sealant), and top of with a decent wax like nattys blue, megs #16

Like other have siad theres lots of other stuff out there, it all comes down to what are you wanting to archieve? To look better there is lots that do look better. But If you want durable protection as well, not alot beats the SRP, EGP combo for me. ( Not tried Zaino still yet though.) I am going back to it for winter even on my garage queen. Top them with a good carnuba is enough to move it on a level in my book.

I was not impressed with #21 or NXT, other sealants I such as the Ex's, Wolfgang, UPP just dont hold up outside like EGP does, but do look better.

Depends Paul - if it's a show car, always garaged etc, I'd go down the bling route myself. RMG, YCM, Souveran etc. If daily use, then TBH I reckon what he has isn't that bad but he could always try EX-P, Wolfgang and so on.

Depends what he wants to achieve - and whether he'll thank you for the soon-to-be-gaping hole in his finances once this disease takes hold!! :D :D

we've been in deep discussion about it and the plan is as follows:

wash
clay
DC #1 as i've got loads to use up
AG SRP
AG EGP
Megs GC Wax

See how it looks and how long it lasts. It's a daily driver, kept outside.

Paul, GC has mild cleaners in it so it *might* remove the EGP/SRP AFAIK

It has to be said that as an AIO, AG SRP is hard to ignore for the price. A litre for £14.99 and thats over the counter at Halfrauds. :)

Well said matey - I think we all tend to initially dismiss SRP when we discover other products but via PC/finishing pad it goes on soooo smooth you'd never use the words "dusting", "staining" or "trim" in the same sentence again.

A worthy product IMHO :)

Yeah, SRP is a totally different product when applied with the PC - a great little one-step.

For looks and durability, I'm finding Collinite 845IW to be seriously good. Use it on well prepped paint and you'll be very happy with the results.

Most say I really liked re-discovering AG SRP by PC. I prefer it with the Sonus Green Polishing pad myself though.

Thats not gonna work, your topping a sealant with a wax and a shi**y one at that.

I'd drop the AG stuff in favour of Vanilla Moose Glaze and then some Red Machine Glaze, top with EX and then souvern.

Should look very nice.

Vanilla moose hides swirls very well and the rest are all a good wetness and depth combo for most colours.

The above combo will look fanatastic, shame it wont last as long.

I would go woth AG SRP and EGP topped with a good pure carnuba, like JJ said lose the Gold Class.

Thanks JJ - really mixed opinions on GC Wax. Some people love it and some hate it. I've not had any issues with it (plus I got some cheap whilst in the states recently).
