Ok, I have a Rover 620ti, and I'd like to have the engine bay nice and clean :)

The car is a 1998 model, so there's quite a lot of ingrained dirt... it's a major job that I don't think I could do myself. What would it cost to get a pro to do it? I work near Gatwick, can anyone recommend any pro detailing firms who would come to my office to do it?

Here's a pic of the engine bay as it is :

Hey Calibrax, nice to see you over here! :)

Give it a whirl yourself mate, half an hours elbow grease and you'll be sorted. Well maybe a tad longer with all the alloy you've got ;)

Put poly bags over all the critical bits (alternator, ECU, coil pack, fuse box) and you're good to go. Get some gunk, spray on or brush on, apply it and agitate cruddy bits, leave to soak for 10mins or so, then rinse off with a slow trickling hose.

Dress all the plastics with a trim restorer of some kind, I use Poorboys Natural Look which can be used on the rubbers as well. Autosol is good for the shiny bits. Use AutoGlym super resin polish for the painted bits.

EDIT: Found some photos of mine after doing the above, minus metal polishing...
