Started this one early, -4 here in Sleaford. A Mitsubishi colt 05 it was in a dreadfull state scratches and swirls inflicted by multiple trips to the carwash.

I started with trying to coat with TFR and Snow Foam mixed in the Karcher, thing is it was too cold so it froze on the body work. oopps
On with plan two, 2 nice hot buckets of Hyper Wash and a wash mitt. Gave a good wash then rinsed off with karcher. By this time the sun was up so water didn’t freeze any more.
So after a good wash I could see the full extent of the swirls and maring.

I tried the clay bar but removed very little so just did bonnet and roof.
Then rinsed and dried with water magnet.
I got the pc out with yellow sfx pad and #83 and hit the drivers door. Here it is after one set of passes.

I followed up with another set of #83 then changed to white pad and #80 then #3. This was the whole routine for the rest of the car.
The tailgate proved to be the worst affected and hardest to bring back. I tried #83 Scratch X and Sonus SFX-2 enhance polish all on the cutting pad. It came good in the end but not totally perfect.
I was tempted to get #1 out, but without a paint thickness gauge, I wouldn’t dare on a practically new car. So just persevered with #83, #80, #3.

I followed up with Nxt Tech Wax then a coat of #16
Tyres were dressed with Endurance Gel,
Trim was dressed with Megs #38
Well heres the end result, did this one all on my own and 8 hours later I’m totally shattered

Those results are blinding :doublesho

Did the owner clean it with wire wool before  , those marks looked like they had

You could imagine a small kid going out to help their parent clean the car with something like wire wool "Daddy look I'm helping you ! " :wall:

Cheers guys for the positive comments.

The swirls on this really did amaze me, for a one year old car with only 7200 miles on:doublesho the tail gate looked grey before hand. it just shows what a carwash and sponge in-between washes can inflict.
Well no swirls now:buffer: :thumb: and i have a repeat customer:)

What a cracking job, how on earth did the paint get in that state so quickly? Washed with gravel I think!

Was the paint soft?

Great results!

Was the paint soft?^^^

I found it quite hard going, mabey the fact the defects/marring were so sever that it took 3 goes with #83 in places to get it to come any where near good followed with #80 & #3.

the tailgate was the hardest to do, it looked grey to start with. Swirls and scratches were truly horrendeous. I thought about getting Megs#1 out but didnt I didn't have the courage to use it on a practically new car. My piggy bank cant stretch to a electrometer at the minute £400:doublesho but it's on the list and I am saving hard:thumb:

Cheers

Bugger me, that looked like a challange. Great work, reminds me of the nasty LCR I did a few weeks back, superb turnaround and stunning finish. You've set a high target for this month. :thumb:

Truly excellent work there. Hopefully your mate will stay away from the car wash in future.
Nice reflection shots - a lovely bit of carpet you have there on your drive:thumb:
