Hi all

Some advice Required please, I am away this week on a boating trip and on my return and before my car goes for a 50k service I was going to give my engine bay a good going over. (This is more in order to see what my service centre touches during the service!)
What are the most important parts that require covering in a 2002 LCR?
I appreciate that this might have been answered already in a previous thread and apologies if it has! I am not going hold back as I am going to be brave and get the hose out!
Ta and I will be back on line this Friday!

Just don't go mad with the hose. It would be a bad idea to cover the alternator with a plastic bag or similar (not when its hot!) for a bit of protection, but that should be it. I just spray mine lightly with some APC, agitate with a soft paint brush then with the hose on a trickle, rinse it down. I'd be careful of getting much water on the coil packs because they can be flakey at the best of times, so watch out for those.

Once you are happy its clean I'd start the engine with the bonnet down and leave it to idle for a few minutes. Then give a light spray of something like Poorboys Bold N Bright over the whole bay to dress it, close the bonnet and consider it job done.

Don't use something like WD40 which lets all the grit and dust stick to it!
