Guys,

I have started to do my engine bay bit by bit, but the sound proofing on the underside of the bonnet is filthy, any tips on how to clean this?

I would suggest some APC and agitate with a brush. Then jet wash off. I would assume this would be effective but have never had to try it.

Better not using the jet wash unless the pressure is set real low and to a big fan area.
You want the product to remove the dirt not the jet wash :thumb:

To be honest I would just take it off... It dosent make too much diffrence in sound either... Looks much tidyer aswell.

just took mine off, and looks miles better already and it ain't even been cleaned, decided to see if it would make much difference so started it up and didn't notice a diffrence from inside or out and its a diesel!!

I would leave the sound deadening on. As well as absorbing sound, the material also absorbs heat that could otherwise damage the bonnet's paintwork - have you ever seen a bonnet with peeling paint right in the centre? That's heat damage and doesn't buff out!

On my car, I plan to saturate the deadening panel with a carpet shampoo solution, leave to soak and rinse thoroughly. Repeat the process until the rinse water runs clear.
