Rightio! Been waiting for a while for the weather to be reasonable for me to have a go on my brothers Clio! It's a 1998 1.4 RT and has rarely been washed (let alone clayed, waxed, or polished). So I was ready to give it a once over.

He's just bought himself a Golf so I thought i'd touch it up with a few extras (that will hopefully add to the sale value of the clio ;)). I fitted new front and rear number plates, new rear lights and some new wheel trims.

Lets start with the interior, certainly not as bad as some i've seen on here! But not particularly nice. I proceeded to give it a good hoover and surfaces, doorcards were cleaned with Megs APC.

After the interior was all finished, I fitted the new rear lights and number plates). Then gave the car a wash with the Karcher KB4040 and the foam gun from maxcars1 on here! I used Simoniz car shampoo in the foam gun (cheap stuff from Costco, gives off a relatively nice foam!). I rinsed the car down, cleaned the arches with a microfibre sponge and cheap shampoo! I then cleaned the car with NXT Shampoo and a Eurow mitt.

Washing:

The car had a lot of specs of tar around the front arches -

http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y112/SpammyClio/DSC_0008Medium.jpg

So I used my Sonus Green Clay and Clearkote detailing spray as a lube -

After -

The car was then washed again, and then dried using a Pakshak Waffleweave drying towel. But then it started raining! I opened up our 1/2 car port and dried the front of the car off in there -

Here are some pictures of a few of the scratches after the wash/clay/wash/dry - (Before and afters)

For the above I used my Sonus SFX-1 pad and polish with a PC on the front arch panel here, getting rid of the scratches and adding a nice depth -

The car was then masked off, problem areas were seen to with SFX-1 and the rest of the car had SFX-2 -

I then applied Megs #21 and #16 using the PC. For the trim and tyres I used Sonus Trim and Tyre Gel.

I found it particularly satisfying getting rid of the scratches and tar etc, and I am very pleased with the results. Sorry there isn't many before shots and no direct comparison of swirls :(

Thanks for your time! :D

Great write up and photos. Particualrly like the shot of the close up paintwork really shows the flake. Nice looking car in the end. Should definitely add a few hundred quid to the re sale value. I'd say your brother owes you a slice of the profits.lol

Superb detail mate. a job well done.

A little tip tear off the white tag on your MF, they can induce slight marring to your paint, so best be safe and tear it off:thumb:

other than that well done :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:
