This thread will hopefully demonstrate remarkably poor dealer car preparation and shows that they really don’t give a damn when it comes to preparing customers cars and should also show why if badly valeted by the dealer your car will need ‘heavy’ machine polishing prior to application of an LSP!
Theres quite a story to this detail! The car in question is EVO magazines ‘best hot hatch ever’.

It is an end of run limited to 500 (now 499!) and is a further evolution of the already excellent 182. It has the same horsepower, a tad lighter but again in the words of EVO magazine it contains an ‘array of supercar worrying race bred hardware!’ i.e its track developed Leda (iirc) coilover suspension!
The owner who lives quite literally 500 foot from me wanted to have the cars paintwork sealed to protect it. He brought the car over to me after the dealership had kindly ‘polished’ it up for him. The brand new car was suffering from rotary holograms and buffer trails.

The above pics were taken back in August. Unfortunately and quite literally a ‘minor off’ (rock in road) put paid to the car, it would seem that the insurance company were somewhat over cautious and a new car was supplied.
It would appear that the dealership (a different one – at least their consistent) did a ‘rush’ job on cleaning it. The car is absolutely brand new and was for a brand new car severely swirled and in some places very deep swirl type scratches, which after 3 passes with a rotary, did not shift!! Being a brand new car I took the cautious route and left them there rather than compounding.

Less obvious swirls in door

Process was QEW wash
light clay
SSR2 on the rotary with a Meguiars polishing pad
#80 on a lake country polishing pad (s) via the cyclo
SSRr2 on plastic bumpers with a 4 inch pad via pc.
The owner wanted maximum durability and with it being too wet/moist cold for sealants to work properly I went for Collinite 476s. This is known to deepen the paint but isn’t best known for its reflective look. So I decided to spit shine it with sonus carnauba spritz.
I used the ‘wax as you go’ (WAYG) technique on each panel as very light rain was forecast and I didn’t want to be caught out with a polished car and then have it rain before the wax went on!

Side shot after spit shining – I was especially impressed with this as I achieved my aim of reflection and depth

It then started to rain so no great after shots
