Midlands Meet 16th September. :)

Coxy`s Unit
Calibre Industrial Park
Laches Close
Four Ashes
Wolverhampton
WV10 7DZ

Its about 3 minutes from Junction 12 M6, just off the A449 near Wolverhampton. Kick off from about 10:00 until around 16:00.

This will be a great chance to meet up with other Detailing World members and to possibly try out machine polishing, and to raise a bit of cash for charity. :thumb: You will also get to see Coxy`x very nice collection of cars and a special Moggy

:buffer: Dave KG (DW legend) is booked in to give PC and Rotary polishing demos (and possibly some other pro`s), so come along if you want to see the man in action and get some tips or even have a go with his guidance. If anyone else would like to offer their skills or services (machine polishing, wet sanding etc etc) then drop me a PM. We are also looking for a donor car, so PM me if you can supply one or dont mind yours being used.

Autobrite Direct will be onsite to demo some products and you will be able to purchase products from them (if you want anything specific, email them to bring it along)
Eddie from Racefilm will be bringing some Paint Protection Film for a demo install.

If any of the other traders want to come along or offer some more raffle prizes please PM me.

We will be holding a raffle and possibly a "Show n Shine" competition (weather dependant) to raise money for charity. If anyone wants to donate any prizes or has any ideas for this, please PM me or bring them on the day, anything will do whatever you can give.
So dont forget to bring some money to buy your raffle tickets as we want to raise as much as possible and so far we have had some great offers of prizes including:

Dodo Factory - The full range of Dodo Juice waxes ! Now arrived :thumb: Thanks Dom.
Serious Performance - 500ml Serious Performance Show Detailer and a SP Pro Microfibre Towel ! Now arrived :thumb: Thanks Alex.
Auto Perfection - A £35 voucher to be spent online @ www.autoperfectionworld.co.uk/ (http://www.autoperfectionhttp://autoperfectionworld.co.uk/catalog/.co.uk) - Thanks to Jim :thumb:
AutoBrite - yet to be announced.
Race Glaze - Two bottles of Crem Perfection Carnuba Wax Polish and 30 free samples, a big thanks to Mark from Race Glaze :thumb:

So a big thank you goes out to those who have already offered their help / time and to the traders who have promised the prizes.
Please put your name on the new list if you can make it. See you on the 16th.

Hi all
My first post
Been reading on here for a bit now, and i am really interested in this PC, may buy one, and this seems like the meet to be at before i do.

So is this a free event? (i guess so, as there's no prices, and talks of charity donations)

Also can i bring a friend or two last minute?

P.S just been talking to guy at work and he may be interested as well, will chat with him again tomorrow. His got a K reg Red Nova, you still need another donor car? lol

Hi Mit, welcome to DW

You are more than welcome to bring a friend just put their name on the list. There is no cost involved but it would be nice if everyone who attends were to buy a few raffle tickets so we can raise a bit for charity, especially as the prizes are worth over £150.

No limit on spaces (my unit is 2500 sq foot), and we'll be the only people there on the Sunday so pretty much unlimited parking!

Had a word with my Autosmart rep today and have persuaded him to do a drive by on Sunday the 16th with his lorry full of goodies so bring yer cash and cheque books boy and girls.:thumb:
A lot of people may not have access to getting this kind of stuff as it's all trade stuff but they do plenty of good products such as Tardis, G101 (APC), TFR, Car freshners, brushes, spray guns, Auto foams, applicators, paints, polishes, glazes, clays, lotions & potions etc etc!
And you'll be able to buy it at trade price and in bulk such as 5 litre containers or even 25 litres!

I should be able to make this. I'll be coming up in my vivaro and i'll have lots of stuff on board for people to try, that otherwise have not had a chance. Such as, nearly the whole swissvax range exluding waxes( i do have zuffenhausen and BOS though), zaino cs, z-2, z-8, z-aio, zfx. Jetseal. 303 fabric guard for any soft tops( you need this in your life). Got some carlack wheel cleaner and special cleaner too. plus lots more.

No real plans, Dave KG (and possibly one or two others) will be giving machince polishing demos / lessons. Mark from AutoBrite will probably be showing off their foam lances, another trader may also pop down and we may have a PPF (paint protection Film) demo by Racefilm. There will be plenty of cars to look at and people to talk to etc.

Especially with melted mozarella and sweet onion tomato ketchup!!

Endless supply of tea and coffee, and I'll make sure there's plenty of soft drinks available for everyone.

This would be really good if there's a panel, and say line it up side by side with another wax? (Yes, I know, you need to see the whole car for the full effect, but might be worth it just for fun?) I'd like to compare a panel thats HDd and Vintaged to a panel thats just been polished and nothing else too... :)

I am happy for my car to be used as a demo car too.

There are holograms on some panels which I think would be tricky to PC (such as the door frames) :buffer:

The car may be of particular use in a wet sanding demo. I have stone chips to remove, but also a crappy previous owner respray on the bonnet which has orange-peeled.

It'd be good to discuss some aspects of machine polishing which I still haven't figured out - the complex shapes of front bumpers and the like.

Since reading DW it now takes me five hours to wash my car, which I think is absurd. Clearly the pros don't take five hours just on the wash phase otherwise they'd take two days on a full exterior detail!

Looking forward to it :thumb:

Hi,

Does anyone know if autobrite will be there, and have foam lances for sale?

I have PMed him and got no reply.

Cheers, Paul.

Hi Paul, I have contacted AutoBrite today and they are still unsure if they can make it on Sunday. I will bring my foam lance down, Coxy has one aswell so you will at least get to see one.

Attending one of the meets is perhaps the best introduction to detailing for a newbie. There's only so much you can read on the forums before you just need to see the knowledge in action.

An hour's demo with a PC is worth hours of reading on the forums.

Guys you might wanna put something on the front page or something regarding traffic. The penny has just dropped as i was heading home to cannock down the A5 that its the 'midland game fair' at weston park this weekend too. Therefore the A5, M54 and M6 are gonna be quite busy and at times chocka around where the unit is. So will be worth heading out early i reckon to beet the traffic. Just a thought thats all. Also have you considered putting a sign on the A5 with a big DW on it showing the turning? Cause Being from round there I'm guessing alot will fly past it lol.

Still planning on coming as I'd like to meet people and see some of the products & demos but the car is filthy and there's no way I can wash it today as I've done my back in and can't afford to aggravate it.

After the shatty events that took place at the meet today ie coxy's PTG going walkies, I really do feel for him. This is not his main business as many know, many don't so its not as if it were his company PTG it was his own personal one.

I think we should show some real appreciation for him opeining up for today and giving many of us a great day out. I really do hope it can become a regular thing and that this doesn't ever happen again.

My idea is to either all put together and get him a new PTG or If Coxy would prefer then maybe set something up to make some donations to his very worthy charity that the event was raising money for.

Some may think 'nah' forget it and i imagine many like me will hapilly donate an amount to either new PTG or the charity.

Come on guys, what do you reckon?

Thanks again Coxy for a superb day.:buffer:

This was a great Detailing World meet - to those who didn't come: you missed a cracking day in the company of good people so make sure you go to the next meet! :D

Many thanks to Coxy for his hospitality and to Wozza for organising the day.

The medal for servic beyond the call of duty goes to Dave KG who travelled silly miles to demo detailing expertise and give freely of his advice. Respect!

To the scum who nicked the PTG and tub of wax: you know Coxy's address (it's on the first page of this thread). Put the PTG and tub of wax in a Jiffy bag and post it to him and we'll restore your honour. Fail and we'll send the boys around

Pics to follow :D

Agree.

For the tub of wax that got stolen, I will speak to Dom @ Dodo about another raffle, £1 per entry, win all of the dodo juices and all the money goes into the Coxy PTG fund.

Thanks again Coxy for a superb day.:buffer:

good idea! :D lets get coxy a new PTG as he didn't deserve what happened to him today, ill donate £20 towards a new one.

to the parasite who stole the one today i hope you rot in hell for eternity.

was totally shocked when i heard that Coxy's PTG had been stolen, someone just had to spoiled a good day!but big thanks to coxy organising this meet n lets hope this hasnt put him off organising future meets.lets get the donation going guys!

I only decided to go to Coxy's in the early hours of Sunday morning, but am really glad I made the journey - I thought I had a long journey of 115 miles from just North of London, but this was totally overshadowed by those DW fanatics who literally came from the other end of the country.

I met a great bunch of people today, and thanks to Dave's great demo's and explanations feel confident now to resurrect the hidden Rotary that I bought 12 months ago (used once) from the depths of the garage and get practicing -on a scrap panel first!

So a big thanks to Dave, Wozzer, and all the guys who attended plus of course, Coxy + his other half for allowing us to intrude into his precious spare time and making it a great day..........

Thanks, it was most appreciated.

Well, what can I say! It was a top day out, it really was! :thumb:

Everybody was friendly and chatty, the cars looked ace, and the demo's were awesome! Glad the weather held out, although was a bit windy at times, but at least it wasn't pouring down!

Really am gutted to hear about the theft of items. Can't believe that! Whoever it is, I really do hope you get what's coming to you. It's just out of order and not within the spirit of things when the day was going so well!

Well done to those who won the raffle aswell (yes, even the jammy gits who won more than one prize! :p )!

I hope there's enough confidence to have another meet in the future, and that the sad, pathetic actions of one LOSER doesn't make all of us suffer. :(

Would of liked to have come to meet some of you guys but i was busy sourcing a new van, looks like you all had a top day.

I would like to say to the person who stole the items from coxy, i don't know coxy but he seems to contribute to this site alot and seems like a top bloke, this theif should feel very ashamed and im shocked that someone could do this, you have stolen a very expensive tool that gets used everyday i bet, you will obviously not come forward and admit it but if you read this post just think if someone stole something of great value of yours that you needed for your job.

All i can say is this......Your a thieving scumbag and if you don't feel bad now just wait till you get found out, sorry guys for ranting on but i have been in the same situation and it put me back a few days in work to pay to replace the item that was stolen.

I didn't attend myself, but what a complete sucky thing to do. That kind of behaviour could seriously put people off organising future meets.

If there's going to be a raffle to raise some funds for a replacement PTG, I'll happily donate a prize.

And I have to say the paintwork on that moggy is superb. :thumb: Love the beading shot looks like molten metal.

Just checked back in.

Cheers guys for what you are doing, it has totally restored my faith in this place and human nature. For 10 minutes yesterday I was ready to pull the plug and tell everyone to go, but seeing how into it Dave KG is and how much effort he and others made to get down here and how valuable his demo's were, I felt it wouldn't be right to let one opportunist Ar5eh01e ruin it for everyone.
Not just the PTG that got lifted but also a jar of Purple Haze which was kindly donated by the Dodo Juice co. in order to raise money for the raffle which in turn helps out a charity to help those who are less fortunate than ourselves.
Whoever did it, I just hope it isn't you that will be asking for help from our charity when your health takes a turn for the worse.

Overall, I felt it was a success and I would be more than happy to hold one again sometime in Spring next year. I'll lock the valuables up this time!!!

Like I said to a few yesterday, feel free to use what products I have in my unit as it's nice to be able to try and test without spending a fortune (which can easily be done in this game). It wasn't a suggestion for a long term loan btw!! I did also have a bottle of Renovo plastic window stuff go walkies as well. If you've used it and want to send it back, the address is at the beginning of this thread!!

Anyway, thanks again to the 99% oe people who turned up and made it a success. With what you guys are doing for me, I feel only right to put on another one! This time, I'll get someone else to do the bacon & mozarella baps!! Never seen food get eaten so quick! Hope no one has deli belly this morning!!

OK people, I'll do the next one at my place. As most know, I was going to do a small meet a couple of weeks back, but it was getting messy, and I pulled it, but having seen the enthusiasm of all the guys that turned out at Coxy's, I am happy to use my place again.

Someone suggest a good date, and I will get the ball rolling.

Oh and by the way, if Larry Lightfingers is looking in here, dont bother turning up, because you WILL get a smack if anyone finds out who you are.

Sounds like posting the address in an open forum is not the way to go.
Maybe give it out to interested members who add their names to a list,
then send them the address via PM.
Did anyone at the Midlands Meet check exactly who was who?
I mean, anyone could have just seen the post and popped down without
even registering on this forum.

I think that we can all possibly get a bit paranoid about this.

Maybe the best way is to think that this was an isolated incident, and just hope that the amount of people that have expressed their disgust at what happened will deter anyone else from acting the prat.

I think that closing the event and making it a private members thing is the wrong way to go. However, maybe just having a book where people sign in as they come in, maybe using their forum name, gives a little bit of security, and maybe I could do a little name badge or something. That would also help people who dont know each other to put a name to the face. I'm open to suggestions on this, and maybe Wozza can put on the black suit and dickie bow to do the door. He's a big bugger, and can growl at people and say, sorry, not today mate.

Don't let the tiny minority of ******s wreck the thing for everyone else.

This process worked well for a small meet in Liverpool recently (10 people)however the day had a set agenda and learning schedule. I think it would be much more difficult for a large scale event like the one at Coxy's.

Possibly the Meets section should only be viewable to people who have logged in (i'm not sure if thats the case anyway).

At least that way only registered members can see the thread.

Sounds like a good meet - largely. If anyone knows exactly who the offender was/is then let one of us know as such behaviour will result in an immediate and permanent ban from this forum.

I would suggest that this be a lesson for future meets - sadly there are gits out there who will use someone's genorosity in opening their premises to pinch stuff so might be worth putting valuable stuff away - shame indeed.

Very sad indeed and spoils what looks and sounds like a really good DW meet

Im gutted i didnt get there in time to try the bacon baps, maybe next time.
I was only saying to bigsyd that how its such a trusting friendly forum, that you can leave things lying around and it wont get stolen. 5 mins later and we find out that the dodo and ptg gauge had been lifted. Dave was lucky to not get his sungun nicked,as lots of people were picking it up and having a look at it(including myself) and nobody looked twice. I can see how it would have been easy to take the ptg.

Taking the purple haze off the raffle table took some balls though. I hope they get kicked in said balls very soon. The more prizes in the raffle means more poeple will buy the tickets, which means more money for the charity. This is why i decided to donate some of my zaino stock to replace whats gone missing.

I tried out my bottle of black wow on bretts b10 alpina too. It will be good to see how long it lasts. You can even see me putting in on in the background of one of the pics. (red t-shirt, glasses).

Big respect to the scottish boys for traveling so far, esp dave. It really shows dedication. Cheers to dave for giving me some rotary tips and avanti for letting me have a go on his golf. Also for wozza(top bloke) for letting me try the z tyre.

Bigsyd, let me know how you get on with the z-2 pro.

Sorry I missed this meet looks like it was a good one, hopefully make the next one.
Gutted to hear of the light fingered visitor though, that has to be the worst luck and I can honestly say that nothing went missing from the Nottingham meet apart from all the tea and coffee :D , so hopefully it won't put anybody else off organising a meet.

If the person responsible reads this please return the missing items in a jiffy bag to the correct owner, if not I hope the PTG fails gives you a duff reading and you burn through your clear coat

Really sad to hear of things being stolen from the meet, and certainly put a dampner on what was otherwise i superb day of detailing. :( Its never something I've experienced before at a meet, which is why I happily had a Sun Gun and my PTG out in the open, and folk were borrowing my PTG all day long and I didn't think twice about it... Now unfortunately I will have to think about lending my PTG out at meets, which is a really great shame as ultimately it spoils it for everyone else who is perfectly honest.

Away from this sore point of the meet, I have to say that it was a truly superb day and well worth the trip down. Many thanks to Coxy for allowing us to use the unit, and to Wozza for organising an excellent day. I had a great time. Got a few pics too, I'll post them later on. :)

I will look at this over the next few days, and it may be that I team you up with Wozza, who will be in charge if he is up for it. I'm making big assumptions here!!
You are more than welcome to help get things rolling, but I won't be having the same jumping all over the place as last time. It just gets too confusing, and then I get bored with it.

So, leave it with me, and I will let you know.

It was a fantastic day and I wish I could have stayed longer. Dave KG - you were a legend and I spent most of my 45 minutes checking you out with the rotary (not in a pervy way:lol: ). You made it look simple and I have certainly picked up some great pointers from watching you work.

If there is another meet can people be made to wear name badges so I can spot who is who instead of approaching random people with the line... "Who the hell are you".

In light of the thieving crap that went on it may also be an idea to have a security guy on hand - don't know how this would work exactly but perhaps an undercover guy looking over tools etc. I'd be happy to run a Porter Cable Workshop if there is interest in it as well.

Dave, I still can't believe you came all the way down from Dundee, worked for nearly 8 hours (almist letting your coffee go cold twice!!) and then drove back all the way to Dundee again. You were 2nd to arrive in the morning and almost the last to leave. That is 146% total dedication.
Without you there, yesterday would have been a totally different kettle of fish.
Before I arrange the next one, I would like to confirm the dates with you to make sure you can attend, and next time, to save the long drive on the Sunday morning, come down on the
