This detail was in preparation of its appearance on the Lotus club stand at a show on Sunday, something I was hoping to go to but it just didn't work out. This car does plenty of miles and is used as Lotus intended. As a result, the owners James and Nikki had achieved about the most impressive tar harvest you've ever seen. Working at Clean & Shiny premises in Wokingham (A very big thankyou to Johnnyopolis for agreeing to this at the last moment and getting me out of a hole) this is what I found upon arrival:

A major washing and de-tarring session later I was able to get on with the correction work. The time scale was slightly shorter for this job, and being the only person at C&S with any detailing knowledge (John and Adrian were out) meant I had a string of people asking for advice. Its always nice to help, but time was whizzing past very quickly! Also, had a few multi legged visitors, not sure if they think the car is friend, food or foe.

I gave up on trying to take correction photo's, Krypton Green just won't give it up for the camera! This is the third car of this colour I've done, and I can see swirls etc, but just can't photograph them properly. Anyone with the knowledge of how to, please take pity and tell me!

I picked James & Nikki up from work at just before five and took them back to their car where I had left the second layer of sealant (Jetseal) curing, so they watched while I finished that, waxed it (CG 50/50) and took care of a few finishing touches. Once done the car looked wonderful, and following them out of Wokingham was great, seeing the KG Exige move in and out of the shade, really coming to life in the sunshine. Here are the afters (taken in the shade)

The owners were over the moon with it, never expecting to see it looking glossy and clean again after all that tar!

Thanks for reading, apologies for the lack of correction shots.

Very Nice, Looks Fantastic!! :)

It might have been the detailing products that attracted the insects, wasps and bees seem to love polishes and waxes LOL

They landed whilst doing the correction work Gaz, no nice smelling stuff had come out of the box at that point (apart from CG Wash & Gloss to wash it).

Looking good mate. You might as well have a loud colour if your gonna have a car like that. What did you use to remove all the tar?

Everything in my soul I think paddy, it took forever!

I actually used AG Tar remover on a microfibre pad. Got something else to try when this runs out (Some cheap AG Tar remover became available and I couldn't say no!)

Cool. The ag is good, though i also use chemical guys new car solvent and you can see the tar running off the panels when you spray it on.

Very nice :thumb: I would suggest that the insects were attracted by the colour, I too get it a bit with my EO Focus. You also get it in the summer if you are wearing a high vis jacket, insects seem to like the bright colours.
