Ok he has been on here a while now so I thought we should interview one of our Younger members

Can you start by telling us a little about
yourself?

I'm Gareth Wynne, currently living in Solihull near Birmingham. I'm 14, as most of you will know. I'm a complete car nut, which is kind of how I go into detailing.

What else can I tell you about me?

My other 'Big' interest along side detailing is Music. I'm currently working with 2 bands, playing regular gigs. Aswell as Engineering events, studio work, live sound etc. Of course, I doubt it will ever take over my love for Cars and Detailing.

How did you ‘get into’ detailing?

I've always been into cars, and always used to help out cleaning our cars with Dad on a sunday morning. Of course, be it a dirty old Sponge and a splash of Turtle Wax, I enjoyed it. Then, it advanced to me doing it alone, I started to spend pocket money on Meguiars and Autoglym in Halfords, keeping our cars clean, washing always once a week. Then, I saw Mr Dalton on Fifth Gear, it took me by storm. I did a little google search for 'Detailing' and Et Voila, here I am!

How long have you been detailing at ‘this’ level?

I've been detailing 'Professionally' now for just over 1 year.

How did you learn to machine polish?

I bought a PC a few years ago, and just read up on various guides here on DW, and went for it. Completed by first car with a local friend from DW who had a little more experience, and picked it up pretty quickly. From then on, more practice, practice, and more practice. Including tuition from various big names on DW.

How many cars have detailed over the years?

I dread to think, it hasn't really been that long. Not to sure so i'm not going to guess.

Tell me about your first detail

My first Detail?

Jees, now your asking. It depends, I suppose my first 'Detail' as such would have been this little fello which a quick search of DW bought up.

Here (http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=7213)

What do you drive and how often is it detailed?

I don't drive, and don't own a car

(could have mentioned what bike you have  )

What is your favourite car to detail and why?

Any BMW, I don't know why I just seem to like Detailing them more than any other car. They have a certain 'Presence' about themselves.

Do you prefer to detail a Supercar or everyday car?

It depends. Whether it is a supercar, which the owner is going to take care of after I detail it, or one which is going to be taken to the kosovans the week after.

I suppose, its not the car which bothers me. More the person, and how the person is going to treat the car after i've left.

What piece of detailing kit do you think every detailer should have in their arsenal? (excluding the obvious stuff like wash mitts etc.)

The correct knowledge to use correctly everything they own. Someone could go out and spend £5k on the best detailing products, tools etc, but be the worst detailer in the land.

Other than that, its a close call between Quality Microfibres and a PTG.

What are your current favourite brands and why?

Probably my 'favourite' and most popular, is Meguiars. I use a very wide range of their products, from buckets to microfibres. They are a great company, with some fantastic products. Generally they impress me, as they appeal to such a wide market. From Joe Bloggs to the Professional.

What do you do when you’re not detailing?

As mentioned before, most of the time i'm not Detailing i'm out at a gig or practicing. Although, I also BMX, and am a keen Graphic/Web Designer, which takes up a fair amount of my time.

A few quick fire questions

Ferrari or Lambo ? Ferrari.
Wax or Sealent ? Wax.
Fish and chips or bangers and mash ? Fish 'n' Chips.
McDonald's or Burger King? Neither, Subway Please!!
Coffee or Tea Tea, 2 Sugars, and lots of it.

I've beaten Gaz to being the first one to reply to a message (and to make it even better it is his very own DW intereview) - wooooooohoooooo.

Great interview Gaz - I love reading these and brings a good insight into the detailers who carry out such amazing work.

All I am waiting for now is Paul Dalton's interview.:doublesho

I'm a complete car nut,
Are you sure that 'car' should be in that sentence? :p :D

Coffee or Tea Tea, 2 Sugars, and lots of it.
Learn to take it without sugar Gaz - I used to have 2 sugars in tea and coffee and now I've got a gob full of fillings. Since I stopped taking sugar I've not had a single new filling :thumb:

Very good interview, nice touch to the forum community.

Gareth for 14 you should be infinitely proud of yourself and the detailing work you do. I've seen on here some of the cars you've done and it's amazing stuff.

Keep up the good work and a good name for teenagers. You must be much richer than all your mates too now :thumb:

That might be debatable depends on the amount of detailing products that he has invested in ;)

Mind you with the cars that he is doing this will give him a huge advantage over those who are in the 20s and have just thought about getting into detailing

Gaz your work is fantastic ....Great read

Without dragging this off topic, this interview was done on Detailing World about 18 months ago, maybe one of the first 'interviews' of its type.

I helped Brazo compile it when I was known as 'miracle agent'.

Shows you how complete Detailing World already is
