use something like imtoo video converter. there are a few opensource ones too that i have been trying out! drop me a pm if ya like!

drag it straight to the ipod folder not the movies folder in itunes. less faffing about and i loose files if i put it on the itunes folder!

are you using a mac or a pc to convert?

Also, have you told iTunes specifically to transfer the movies/tv shows?

Get yourself a copy of handbrake

http://handbrake.fr/

That will do the job very nicely and it's free :thumb:

Windows? Mac? Linux? Which platform?

You can buy a USB processor, called a Turbo 264 (from Elgato). Their own software automatically detects it, but there's certainly a couple of products I use that can make use of it as a dedicated H.264 processor.

I use Handbrake for DVDs and Visual Hub for converting AVIs. I have an iMac, mind. Apple's own Quicktime Pro makes a good job of converting files (rather than ripping) and has its own profiles built in. It can use the Turbo 264, too. Companies such as Roxio license Quicktime Pro from Apple to do their conversions in Crunch and Popcorn. IMO, they've not done a great implementation on the Windows platform and actually complicate the process on the Mac platform.

I use Videora - totally free and incredibly easy to use. Quick Google search, download and you're away

used videora myself, only problem i had was the occasionally it would pull the video and audio out of sync when converting!

videora here too
the speed on conversion is obviously related to the PC spec.
i converted a 2 hour DVD to ipod format in approx 35 mins

All iPod Touch fora are in the US. I was called 'dude' on one, so cannot recommend them.

A major topic is the use of custom OS versions, which may or may not concern you.

I would suggest here might be a better source of information about video rendering for the Touch.
