I need some technical advice here..

I spend the majority of my day on the road, and I need something with good web browser capability, and email. I would also find it more productive to have office products etc, but not essential.

I currently have a Blackberry Pearl, which is good, but I think Im missing out on the benefits of windows mobile..

What should I do!?!?!?

Perhaps you could get a trial from your provider? I have used both and personally preferred the Windows Mobile devices but then thats personal preference. The blackberry's are nicer devices as they are less bulky.

WM6 will do push, but it just doesn't work as well as BMS.

Web browsing on WM device is MUCH better than a BB.

Upsides of using a WM device is no random BB blackouts service wise, and you can add cool stuff to the device as you would windows.

The pearl is a cracking device though.

Of course, you could always get an iphone like me. ;) And I'll be getting the 3g one next month which has proper push email.

I would personally go for the WM. If you can go to a store and try to play about with a display model to get an idea on whether it is right for you.

Thanks guys,
I dont think the iphone is on the list, being a work phone and all that, but can always pose the question...

I do think the WM is a much better option for productivity, and our server deals with the email side of things. My boss has WM and I get BB, so maybe its time for a change around LOL...

If your work uses exchange server and has SSL/security/encryption procedures in place , then the iphone with version 2 software installed can be classed as a work phone...but if your bosses say otherwise then you are fairly limited

That's what I use it for. In fact, believe it or not, I pretty much run my business on the iPhone. About the only thing I do on my mac is stuff that I need to print.

Ill be honest, Ive never actually had a proper go at playing with the iphone. I know they have a lot to offer, so it may be a possibility...

Maybe my bosses 5 Series needs a little detail as a sweetner? ! ?

To be honest it depends on what your requirements are as the blackberry is mainly designed as an email device where the windows units have more features.

If you mostly want push email, blackberry - no question. Web browsing - probably WM or Iphone. I use my blackberry to read and post to this forum all the time, no probs.

To get all three of the features you mention (push email, decent browsing and office apps), I think you really are looking at a Windows Mobile device, either version 6.0 or 6.1. The support for MS Office apps is very useful (I use the Word and Excel apps constantly).

How important is a physical, rather than virtual keyboard?

Take a look at Expansys.com Under pocket PCs, you'll find a huge range of possible choices. Then get to reading some reviews.

Hope you find the right device.

I may well go down the iPhone route next month, but it will not replace my current WM device (an o2 XDA Exec). I aim to keep that going for another 12 months, because Windows Mobile 7.0 looks as if it is going to be a cracker of a mobile OS.

I got my blackberry 8820 today. Never had one before, so im just getting used to it. I wanted it mainly for email and the odd look at the web. I would have got the iphone, but wanted to stay with orange.

I have had BB's for a few years - Pearl right now, and use it all over the world all the time. i agree it is superb for email, although a bit limited for the web. I can browse DW, check news, flights, weather etc but it isnt idea for browsing. Knocks spots out of everything else I've tried ;)

waiting for the new touchscreen BB in the summer :D

Im going to go against the grain and im going to say Symbyan. Im on my 4th Symbian phone and in between i've hade windows mobile, had a blackberry and had a go at my mates iphone for a day and I find the Symbian nokia's are by far the most practical. I have the Nokia 6120 and I find it great.
