Is Anyone on 3 Mobile .

I'm looking at changing my network provider currently with Orange .

Just need to know if anyone else is on this network at what they're opinion of it .

I have a company phone so this handset is on pay as you go as my personal phone .

the deal is £25.00 per month top up gives 700 minutes or texts ( or a mix )to any uk network . and the handset has Skype on it which is free to use .

any opinions welcome good or bad .

Was on it about 2 years ago, found reception terrible in my area. Also very hard to understand the 3 operators when you need help

i have been with 3 for 5 yrs ,found the reception better than most other networks which obviously depends on location, where orange , t mobile , o2 all had no signal with 3 had a few bars.

thought about leaving them a couple of times as the phones they offer on contracts have normally been out for ages.

just renewed again with them for 18 months.

just to add - talking to the operators or getting any problems sorted is a real pain there customer service is $hit

I wouldn't go near them with a barge pole. Ok it's cheap but the coverage can be patchy, the 3G coverage is worse and the not-in-the-UK customer 'care' may as well not exist. They don't listen, don't understand and don't care.

I got out as soon as I could, taking a contract with another provider before my 3 contract ran out.

My bro was with them for 9 months of a 12 month contract and not once did they get his bill right, some months it was out by hundreds, always in their favour. See my comments about the customer care for how they handled his 'query'.

Been with Voda ever since. Got a business contract and it's bloody marvellous. Always speak to the same UK based team, don't wait for ages on hold, new phone out within 24 hours when mine broke, just the kind of support I hoped for. And it's not expensive.

I have found them ok, actually.

They called me up one day and offered me a free upgrade from a nokia n70 to a 73 (this was about 14 months ago) for free. I got half price line rental for the first 6 months etc etc and the signal is always at least as good as my friends phones. My fiance's E65 on the other hand struggles on 3. Obviously we're in the same place, so it confuses me as to why.

After my half price 6 months deal, I just called up and took a cheaper talkplan. I get 500 mins and 100 txts for £30 which I think is ok.

The customer service centre is in India however, so when you do speak to them you have to speak clearly and s l o w l y but they're generally ok. I suppose this is why they're cheap...

The only reason i left 3 after 4 years was the choice of phone available.

Found them to be fine, didn't have any problems with them at all.

Reception could be poor in some areas but the biggest factor was the phones.
The newer phones seem to be much better.

I have just left Three after about 4 years too, again because of their range of handsets - I wanted an iPhone and got one before the end of my 3 contract.

They are great, and offer some of the best value deals and are very aggressive price wise if you try to leave them, hence why I stayed for so long!

Pretty much the same as me but on my 4th year, signal is pretty much always excellent.
750 mins & 150 texts,£5 downloads @ £30.00 a month any network is pretty hard to beat.
Free upgrades every 10 months and just renewed contract with a N95 8gb.

Customer service is crap though but to be expected when your talking to some numpty in India.

DO NOT GO ON 3!!! I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH!!!

There customer service is terrible, they often get billing wrong and the coverage can be very very poor.

An example of the terrible customer service.

My father passed away in November 2006. He had about 7 months of two 18 month contracts remaining with them my sister contract phone was in his name. We phoned up to tell them that he had passed, and therefore would be cancelling the contracts. They asked us to send a death certificate and told us that a bar would be placed on the account.

This was done in the last week of Dec. About a week before Xmas, got a phone call asking to speak to Mr. Eeevaans (the Indian subcontinients way of pronouncing Evans). I asked which one. They replied "Mr. Martin Evans", who was my late father. I then had to explain that he had passed away and what they next said was incredible - "I understand this sir, but I will need to speak to Mr. Martin Evans." Granted I then went off on one, where they checked the account, confirming that 10 days ago they had recieved my fathers death certificate. With that note they said they thanked me for my time, but NO APOLOGY!! I wrote to 3's customer service center, explaining all this, they didnt ever get back to me. At that point I decided to write 3 off as a network and decided that I would never ever use a service of theirs or anything connected with them.

When I went to cancell my own contract with them recently, I called them up to pay off the remaining 3 months, for which they took a card payment. Didnt hear anything else after that, last month I recieved a letter from a debt collection agency saying I owed £27.50. I phoned 3 again, but got no joy. Still waiting for a letter on that, saying that I want any bad credit references removed from my credit file.

In short. THEY ARE TERRIBLE, STEAR WELL CLEAR.
