I need a good laptop bag for a 12" screen size laptop.
I've seen plenty out there, but not yet come across one where I could run the laptop from within the bag (i.e. I don't need to unpack it each time). It doesn't need to be bomb proof either.
Idealy a backpack design with some room for carrying non laptop stuff.
Anybody know of a suitable bag?
You're not likely to find a bag as such, but possibly a skin - like neoprene as used by the wetsuits.
Still think it's unlikely due to heat and how it's held in place without covering part of the dispaly - there's not much edging around the panel these days, so a bit of elastic stretched diagonally will still overlap the screen.
So you want a bcakpack with storage capacity, but yet don't want to lift the lappie out?
That's called a tent!
Automatic choice would be Crumpler for a good, decent, proper bag.

about time someone made one then!
Not hard to do. Seperate compartment clamshell design lid. Put bag down on it's front, unzip lid fold back. Laptop now exposed, lift lid start using. Extra features to hold power supply bonus.
Sounds like you've a new business venture then. Good luck with it. :p
Seriously though, spend a bit of time with Google and check out the Apple store online to get an idea of what's around, etc.
Would make a good starting point for you then to hopefully find something that fits the bill. To my mind, it doesn't exist - but it's been some time since I've had to worry about a laptop, and of what I have seen since, nothing much looks to have changed.

yes maybe I should start designing the new detailers laptop bag.
Whizzer let me know how many DW logo'd ones you want for the group buy.
Thanks PJS

My neighbours son fried the power supply on a laptop by
using it on a duvet.
You may want to consider airflow if you dont plan on removing
it from the case (should you find one).

My work lap-top has a case you dont have to remove it from. Think it's an Antler. Looks gay as!!
Thats why my own laptop case is a crumpler
