Done my first proper detail today on my e90 m sport , started with a wash with autoglym shampoo then clayed whole car washed again polished with ssr2 then with meguiars crystal polish then waxed with collinite 476 , alloys washed clayed and polished then sealed with poorboys wheel sealant, really happy with the result never used clay before paint feels like glass now ! The ssr2 was hard work and still think it would be so much better to use with a machine polisher but for now I'm loving the finish I have happy days

Car hasn't had a clean for a couple of weeks and has done a fair few motorway miles so was in need of a good going over! I have also just got my hands on a DAS-6 so wanted to have a go at this machine polishing lark.

First job was the wheels and wheel arches. Wheels were cleaned with VP Bilberry, clayed with BH Auto Clay Soft, and then protected with AG Alloy Wheel Seal. Arches were sprayed with APC then rinsed off.

Car was then foamed with AB lance and AB Magifoam.

Rinsed off the foam after 15 mins, then washed with Gtechniq G Wash using TBM. Used AG Intensive Tar remover on stubborn areas. Left the car wet to act as a clay lube.

Paintwork and glass clayed using BH Auto Clay Soft. Generally it was pretty good with little contamination, the boot and rear skirt was the worst - shown in the picture.

Washed car for a second time with G Wash, then dried with CYC fluffy towel.

Then prepped the car for polishing, taped up plastics and badges using 3M 3434. Looked like the British weather was going to let me down so set up a gazebo over the car!

First proper go with a machine polisher so I was keen to see what finish I could achieve. The paintwork is in good condition so I didn't need to achieve any correction. So I used a DAS-6 with 3M Ultrafina SE Blue pad and AG SRP. Polish residue removed with a Sonus Der Wunder Buffing Towel.

Once all panels were polished I lightly rinsed the car to remove any polish powder that was left. Dried again with CYC towel. Then moved onto waxing, decided to go with AG HD wax.

Had enough time to apply two coats of wax with an hour in-between them. After another hour sprayed a layer of AG Rapid Detailer to give an extra layer of shine and protection. Finishing touches where AG Fast Glass on all windows. Megs Endurance on tyres and exterior plastics.

Here are the finished pictures. Really happy with the finish, the paintwork is as smooth as glass now. Don't think the pictures quite do it justice, see what you think.

Had a look at 3 of them thus far.

First one, was actually in good condition, however the owners had priced it around £500 over what it was actually worth and refused to budge AT ALL even when I presented them with the fact the car needed a new MAP sensor (I have VW diagnostic software on my Laptop I check all the cars out with).

Walked away from that one

Second one, described by the owner on the OWNERS FORUM as good condition on the phone, went to it and it was shocking. The grill had tree-mould growing in it, the scuttle panel was covered in it, it looked like it had been washed with a brillo-pad down one side of it, every single panel had a scratch of some kind on it, the interior was dusty, tatty.

Under the bonnet it genuinely looked like it had never had a clean and had been driven across the Sahara every day.

He hadn't even CLEANED IT FOR SALE. I had made my intentions clear for several days, that I would be viewing on a given day, but no. :detailer:

The third one I'm still umming and arring about, it's slightly highly priced for the miles it's done (a whisker over 100k) and doesn't have Xenons.

It's a local car garage literally a 2 minute walk up the road but when said "prepared to knock a couple of hundred quid off if I give you cash sort of thing?" they just said no flat out.

I just want to buy a bleedin' car, how hard can it be??

So collected today, our Nissan Juke in Force Red. Went for the AWD version (swapping from a convertible - will make sense to anyone in South Wales...). Has a pretty cool 1.6 turbo petrol engine, 190 bhp, feels utterly different to her big heavy diesel Focus CC.

Ordered in March (0% finance, would have been rude not to) and delivered exactly as promised. And in the meantime Nissan upgrades mean - new alloys (differentiating from rest of the range), centre armrest (was £100 before now!), privcy glass (not sure if that used to be there or not), and Nissan Connect with Google send-to-car.

Skipped the Permaseal obviously, and car looked pretty good but with a stickers tacky residue on the leading edge of the bonnet.

So washed with Zymol using TBM and lambswook mitt, dried off with towels, then one coat of Valentines Concours - nice wax but very hard and hard to get right. Plastics done with 303 Aerospace, glass with AG Fast Glass and wheels with Rim Wax. Oh and some AG Interior Shampoo on the odd few marks inside (i'm out of Poorboys Natural Look).

Oh yes, pics of the car, here she is. I know the shape is 'a grower' but I am getting to like it. It's really funky and modern feeling inside and out. Take a look, be happy to get any feedback :)

Couple of cars I've done for them:

Jaguar XKR 4 day correction



Porsche 996 Turbo 3 day correction



This job was completed 2 weeks ago & thought you gent's might like to see it

Parked in the unit on the morning of day 1, hardly filthy the client likes to look after his cars



Outside for the usual safe wash prep prior to machine polishing:

Wheel arches thoroughly cleaned with all purpose cleaner & soft brush, this is why we clean them




Alloys just a light covering of break dust



Thoroughly cleaned with an acid free wheel cleaner & treated to a deep iron cleanse too



The engine bay was barely dusty but was cleaned gently with apc & a low pressure rinse







Rinsed



APC





Rinsed & dried.

Spoiler was raised for access



Thorough jet was of paintwork & AF Avalanche applied via pressure sprayer



Rinsed off after a short dwell



Cleaning of the grills & small places around the car with all purpose cleaner









Washed 2 buckets with AF Lather shampoo & plush wash mitt



Tar remover applied to paintwork & alloys

They may only be tiny but they need to go !



Wiped & rinsed



Paintwork was clayed for a nice clean portrait to polish :D



Not a huge amount to remove but well worth the effort

Rinsed & dried with plush drying towels



Paint readings taken around the car with the Posi



Inspection of the paintwork under 3M Sungun & Halide light

Nice pretty patterns ! But not a good look…















Settled on a polishing routine after some testing all polishing done with the Flex rotary

50:50 after first stage

Refined & checked under the sungun

AF Rejuvenate pre wax cleanser was used by hand



Before 2 coats of AF Tough coat was applied





Satin to the tyres after mint rims to the alloys





Nanolex trim rejuvenator applied to the hard plastic window seals giving a much fresher look





Door lock cleaned up with AF rejuvenate



Interior given a good going over too

Thorough hoover & vents cleaned







Pedals too





Leather cleaned with AF Hide







After thorough drying Swissvax Leather Glaze applied to aid in dye transfer becoming a problem in the future



Swissvax wood polish to the carbon fire trim



Glass cleaned, painted exhaust surround cleaned & all checked over
