Cleaning Wiper Blades

Plenty of good advice of here about cleaning the glass but no one ever seems to mention cleaning the wiper blades.

I would have thought any contamination on the windscreen would migrate to the wiper blades but I've no idea how to clean them or if they should be cleaned at all.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I normally wipe with a cloth following the wash process, and a quick wipe with rain x.
something I have always done since I started cleaning cars at 12 years old, so 40 years ago!!

I clean the wiper blades with whatever I am cleaning the car with

I clean them with the car shampoo when cleaning the car. But also if I remember I use some vinegar to wipe the blades as I remember seeing it somewhere saying it helps with the rubber.

Glass cleaner soaked direct on a cloth. Then a few wipes in both directions.

Glass cleaner on a glass cloth, then with the cloth in your hand, pinch the wiper blade with your fingers then wipe up and down, and as has been previously said, you can coat them with a rain repellant such as RainX or even Gtechniq G1 (they recommend if applying G1 to your windscreen, to clean your wiper blades and swipe G1 down them, without using the G2 residue remover like you would on the windscreen).

gtechniq G5

When I re apply gtechniq G5 every month I use 2 cotton make up pads one for each half of the windscreen to apply it, once i've done the first half I wipe the blades with the applicator then bin it and repeat the next half.

I clean them with a paper towel soaked in glass cleaner

Car Glass Polish is great at getting the grime off of wiper blades.
