I saw a guy using a plastic card (health lotto I think) on a customers T5 bonnet to remove a stubborn mark at a Sainsburys. It was never going to do remove it, just scratch the bonnet to pieces.

Mine did the same recently, would work fine on a flat surface but vertical it would cut out, not ideal on car panels!
Took it to a local tool repair shop, £15 and they put a new cable on for me....
