You can (I have) spray it on, but I find it much more effective to use with a microfibre...

Glass cloths - how to use?

I tend to use them folded up - like a pad and this seems to make it easier, also think what product and how much you apply can effect how easy the cloth glides over the glass.

I’ve found BH Autofoam via a garden pressure sprayer @ 4% ratio works a treat.

Drying aid over the UHD wax - I’d recommend their Aqua wax, very nice to use, easy (providing you don’t over apply it) and smells lovely, it leaves a very nice finish and worked very well with my HD...
