I'd whack a HID kit in there mate, works a lot better in projectors as opposed to LED bulbs which have bright spots and not an even dispersal of light to thenbe channelled by the projector lense

You're right in what you're saying, usually modern leather is coated so any moisturisers or creams will sit on top of the barrier and feel greasy/slippy. Sometimes a light layer is a good trade off...
