Dental floss trick should work fine. As for the remaining residue, I very rarely use any tar and glue remover as I find most times a little heat from a heat gun and I can roll it off with my thumb.

For me it would be dark glaze followed by wax and then top up with rapid detailer on the weekly wash. The qdx I probably wouldn't bother with but if you did it would need to go under the wax.
