Tea towel and iron also worked for me on the carpet and chairs in my house with candle wax. I would think crayon would be similar.

Take a tea towel and place it over the crayon and then use a hot iron on the tea towel and it should melt it and soak it up.

I would at trying to remelt it, maybe boiling water, or even the steam off a boiled kettle, then should be just a case of some apc to wipe up the remaining bits, it's not something I've done before...
