They are firm and they aren't the softest pad they do. The black is the softer one and designed for the lack range. As firm as it is it does work well with M2 on medium to hard paints bud. :thumb:

So any mild APC should be just fine. I suspect it's mechanical rather than chemical damage you need to look out for.
