If it's your first (and only DA) then I would advise go for the DAS 6 Pro (not the pro plus) as it takes a wider range of pads.

You'll really need to specify a rough budget mate, hotels range massively in NYC, stayed in a few.

It also depends if you're looking for centre of the action or wanting to travel in etc.

In short I don't I turn it upside down and leave it. I can usually just pick it up and get 3/4 of a tyre coated before I need to apply any product.

The shinemate should get into places the das/rupes can't.

You can run 4" pads on the DAS6 pro, if you want smaller then there's the shinemate mini rotary from cyc that looks a good bit of kit and will run a 1.5" pad and up to a 3" pad (I think)

Sounds like what you have is a re-mapped golf mate and the boost has been upped. The hissing sound could be the boost going through the wastegate.

I'd perhaps consider getting it on a rolling road...
