Put a few tiny stone chip sized drops onto something hard and just see.

I usually just tap it with a gloved finger, if it goes matte, it isn't ready...

But I doubt the yellow head will work unless you're using a green head, or a lambs wool.

The yellow will fill marks as it's very filler...
