I had a 1 series with it on - luckily my dealership did a good job and it looked well and lasted well - not sure about 4 years though. I regularly waxed the car, so did me fine :)

My previous car had a leather steering wheel and never did anything to it, current motor has one as well, have used Dr Leather on it and it did take away the shine and gave a nice matt / satin finish...
