I only see sense in that if there's a ton of caked mud on the car, when you drove through dirt roads AWD style or similar after rain etc. I.e. when a simple rinse will already dissolve a ton of caked...

You'll find other pros saying the opposite, since rinsing too hard could propel rock chips or whatever across the paint. A bit of a taste things in the end.

Not required, if the car is not completely packed in mud. Snow foam isn't supposed to stay on your car forever, it has to flow down slowly and will take a lot of crap with it already.
