Took my wheels off for a rotation and ended up cleaning them, decon, wipe down followed by Gtechniq C5. Also sealed my calipers and arches.

Ive just done this to mine. The timber frame was covering 3/4 of 1 of the vents. I just put 3 x 25mm holes cut outs in the timber so it can breathe.

OP - Yes they are fed off the lighting circuit. Does your extractor have a cover on it like most? If so you should be able to see that it has stopped spinning altogether.
