Booked in for a full detail and re-painted hubs was this crisp white Audi TT Roadster.
Upon receival of the car, the client was dropped back home and upon my return work commenced,
Firstly started on the sad looking hubs,
Vehicle was raised, wheels removed giving me the opportunity to give the arch linings and suspension areas a good clean with Megs super degreaser and tardis, hubs prepped with a wire brush and flattened down using 1500 grit wet & dry, all under areas pressure rinsed, whilst this was drying of the alloys were given a thorough clean throughout and sealed using Insulator wax,
With the hub area now dry and prepped, all areas were masked of and followed 2 coats of primer, curing time helped along with the heatgun in between coats,
This was followed by 3 coats of basecoat, trying to keep the match as close to factory,
Finally 3 coats of laquer and looking a whole lot better,
With all the wheels back on time was getting away from me, so on with the wash routine, firstly the underside of the sill was cleaned using Megs s/de-greaser and tardis,
Before washing, the fabric hood was cleaned using Megs APC,
All detergent was pressure rinsed of, shuts and trim were cleaned with a soft detailing brush and Megs SDG,
Bilt Hamber autofoam applied and left to dwell for 5-6 mins, before pressure rinsing from bottom upwards,
A second application of Shampoo + was then applied to lubricate the surface for washing, done using the normal 2 bucket method and Zym@l sponges,
The paintwork was then clayed whilst wet using Megs mild clay & LT, forgot how time consuming it can be to remove bonded contaminents from white paint,
With the claying complete the vehicle was re-rinsed using an open flow and dried with Uber plush towels,
Overall defects
Settled on a combination of Megs #83 and a Visomax combi pad for the majority of defects, some areas requiring Fast cut+,
50/50
Completed panel
Some stone chips were filled in, flattened and polished out,
With the failing light the vehicle was then moved inside, couple of pics of the completed panels,
Difficult to reach areas polished using a 100mm CCS pad,
The refinement stage was then done using a 3M blue finishing pad and Ultrafina,
Headlights and taillights polished by machine using SV med cleaner fluid,
Tailpipes rejuvenated using Britemax 2 part metal polish and sealer,
I wanted to get the fabric hood re-proofed so it had time to fully cure overnight, Nanolex fabric protector was applied in 2 coatings and impregnation helped along using the thermal treatment (hairdryer)
All polished surfaces were then given an IPA (Isopropanol) wipedown to remove any oils,
Zaino
Z2 pro applied to the paintwork, alloy faces and shuts in 3 layers,
Tyres dressed with 3 coats of Z-16 in 20 minute intervals,
It was now time to call it a day at 10.00 pm,
Day 2 and an early start, badges, grill area & exhaust re-polished using Britemax metal sealant,
Hood raised and rubbers nourished,
Opti-seal applied to all plastic trim and rear spoiler pre-cleansed and waxed using Zym@l detail,
Interior vacummed and all hard surfaces wiped down, Leather pre-cleaned using Z-9,
Leather gently heated before applying Z-10 leather feed,
Vehicle was then pulled outside and dusted down using a Z tickling stick, Headlight surrounds polished with
Z-AIO, Paintwork & alloys wipedown using Z-8, finally glass cleaned throughout and all exterior windows and mirrors sealed using Carlack glass protector,
Results A little bit dissapointed with the finished photo's, the dull sky not really doing the finish justice, sun was out for the client though upon collection which I suppose is all that matters.
Thanks for looking & comments welcome as always.
