HSV/VXR8 booked in over the weekend for a correctional detail,
An awesome machine in the flesh and the sound from the V8 is simply breathtaking.
Befores
Firstly the lower half was treated to a warm citrus pre-wash and panel gaps and grills cleaned with a SV brush and rinsed followed by the alloys and arches cleansed using Bilberry all wheel safe and various fine brushes,
Then true to form the heavens opened,
Vehicle then foamed twice to break down surface soiling and washed via the 2TBM,
Vehicle then clayed whilst wet with very few contaminents picked up on the Zaino clay and then dried using Duragloss plush towels,
Brake calipers sprayed with Tardis to remove some of the greasy film,
Vehicle then moved into my garage and masked up to protect vunerable areas and paint depth reading taken,
Defects
Now this is where the fun started as a routine one step machine polish with a final finish polish was planned but I'm sure the vehicle was suffering from "sticky paint" as every combo (Menz,Megs,3M,Optimum) I tried was making the rotary hop about and fling clumps of polish even on a finishing pad but not so on the plastic areas, after a fair bit of cursing and stress I managed to get 106ff on a megs yellow pad to behave and co-operate and break down to a lovely finish, by 9.00pm I called it a day.
50/50
Sunday 7.30 and a lovely bright start and pulled the car out of the garage to finish the final areas around the front grill and rear spoiler and light section,
With all the polishing done and tape removed an IPA wipe down was given to remove any oily residue and to give a perfect base,
The arches and plastic areas when then treated to 303 aerospace protectant and Swissvax pre-cleanser applied and removed,
Alloys and calipers then sealed with Poorboys sealant and opti-seal to inner areas,
Engine bay was given a wipe down and plastics dressed, inner door sill and shuts cleaned with lime prime,
The beast within
Finally Swissvax Best of show applied to every area including rubber trim and left to cure for an hour whilst the windows and interior were given the once over, tyres dressed with new look gel.
With the wax removed the vehicle was placed back in the garage due to the weather looming, 4 hours later it was pulled back out for a final buff to remove the any oils that had come to the surface and lastly a wipe down with Zaino
Z8.
