Whoo i seem to be posting threads left right and centre

Don't worry it isn't :spam:

Anywhoo here's my Mini.

She's my first car built september 9th 2002

pure silver metallic

Panoramic Roof

Sports seats

7 holies alloys

Part chrome line interior

etc etc

The Pano glass sunroof is my favourite feature of the car, if you go looking for an r50-53 i highly recommend you seek one with this roof. :thumb:

The interior is mostly stock aside from a funky metal gearknob and Part chrome line interior.

I noticed walking around the car that the Tailpipe was very rough.

it is a cover for the horrible PEA shooter exhaust that comes stadard on ONE's

After wrestling it off i discovered it wasn't exactly round!!

After digging around one of my workshops i found my vice!!
this allowed me to re-round it lol, it also made polishing easier!

To remove the heavy deposits i ran it over with a soft wire wheel in a drill.

This removed all the deposits but made it dull so i polished it up with some autosol.

Afters!

Service time!!

I pulled the old oil filter, anyone who owns a mini will know what a PITA the oil filter housing is to remove!

IMO you shouldn't start this job unless you have a low profile 36mm socket.

The oil for the Mini is 5w30 meeting bmw ll04 however my engine is high mileage so i decided to go slightly thicker.

Its also worth mentioning i ran some STP oil flush through her before hand

A pic after filling 'er up.

Firstly, I love this picture, it's great to see such an eclectic mix of cars and as a fellow Mini owner it's great to see another thread on one.

Back in early 2003 I was due my first company car and working for BT at the time they had an arrangement whereby I could test drive anything on the list for 48 hours. One of those cars was a Mini Cooper S which had a panoramic roof. It was my first experience of one (only normal sunroofs up to that point) and it wasn't a positive one. It squeaked when shut and was very noisy when open with lots of boom and it put me off them. As a result, when I looked for my Mini earlier this year I discounted a number of cars because they were equipped with the panoramic roof and actively sought out one that didn't have it. Different strokes for different folks I guess.

Next Up.

The Gearbox oil.

The 2002-2004 mini ONE's and coopers have a fairly weak midlands gearbox
its basically a modified citroen ax gearbox lol

Oil changes are very important, my car is on it's 3rd gearbox and the current ne is slightly noisy, so in an effort to make it last as long as possible i have changed the oil...

I think it was a good idea YUCK!

I replaced it with MTF94 and also added a forte gearbox additive.
the changes are much smoother and the gearbox has gotten quieter.

Cheers!

The pano roof is very marmite lol

I like it because of the view and the noise distracts me from the gearbox  !

It's also beneficial to cars that don't have AC!!!

The Rolls royce is a Resto in waiting, i just have to evaluate if its worth saving.

lol

cheers

The Old Girl is showing her age 17 now and getting on!

She's never let us or me down and i've done a few k in her..

But it's time to park her up and give her a good refresh.
