the marring could be anything,
do you use a grit guard?
do you rub the paint or glide over in straight lines with minimal pressure?
when drying do you, wipe, drag pat the drying towel on the paint?

I use these

Gently glide over the paint work in straight lines and when drying I lay the towel on say the bonnet and pat it and smooth it out so it absorbs all water underneath, then pick it up and move to the next section no dragging or wiping motion.

A good technique is just as important as the tools you use.
