Maching polishing with 02b
Hi there i set out to practise with my new rotary yesterday using ag foam pad and ag 02b (Ultrafine Renovator) i washed clayyed the bonnet i was using first, then stated to use the rotary on the panel using a smallish amout of polish and fairlly low speeds but i was having great difficultly with it. iv used my rotary before and was fine but for some reason i wasnt doing somthink right i found the rotary not under control as if i wasnt gliding over the surface nicelly and the polish wasnt getting hot but it was going hard on the panel and found it veryhard to buff off. I tried spraying a small amout of water onto the pad to help but no luck i keeps trying different ways making sure my arms were relaxed and not stiff (as i readon here) and making sure the pad is flat.
Please could someone advice me some tips |

I tried it with little amount and small amouts i even tried when putting the polish onto the pad doing a cross so that there isnt just polish in the middle (if that makes sense)
I did try with and with out the water |

Hmm, are you sure the panel was cold.
My rep was very adamant that you don't use water with it. Did you start off on the slowest speed and gradually build the speed up following the instructions on the bottle. Maybe AG could shed some light on this. Last edited by VinnyTGM; 31-07-2010 at 01:59 AM. |

I did start at the slowest speed and tried to build up to medium speed but it was drying up before anythink, As for the water it was my AG rep that gave me the advice to spray a small amount of water to help cool if getting hot but i wasnt warm at all because i wasnt working long enough for any heat to build up. After looking at the pad the compound wasnt covering the hole pad maybe i need to try abit more product at first so that the hole pad has some sort of lube.

Try putting it onto the pad, then spreding it over the panel with the rotary whilst switched off, then apply some more to the pad and begin.

I'll do you a deal, if you can wait till tomorrow I'll do a video with 02B a foam pad and a rotary showing it in use. Just as a question, what pad did you use, soft, medium or hard? Got a code?
