Looked at the bose solo 5 but it gets only average reviews from online sources and also users. So that's def out. Will look at Yamaha ones and a as you say look at what deals are available in the sales etc.

You’ll need a sub as well for really good audio.

I’d consider buying used.

Yamaha have been making quality soundbars for donkey years, if I had to get another one it would be one of theirs.SJ.

Are all Yamaha ones pretty good, or is there certain models to def keep an eye on?

There is a Yamaha YSP 4300, local to me, used but immaculate(so the ad says) for £100. ??

Thanks

James.

They are...But as they say you get what you pay for,so with that formula the more pricier usually is the better. The next thing you really need to work out is how you want it to connect to your existing TV set up for example:HDMI,WIRELESS,OPTICAL...also the good ones also come with a separate sub woofer for the low notes. In all honesty your looking for an electrical product at the right time of year as you will definitely be able to get a very good bargain with all the sales that will be coming up over xmas and into the new year.SJ.

Looking at the reviews of the YSP 4300, most are 5stars, it was released in around 2013/2014. But has loads of inputs (4hdmi, 1 being a 4k input, 2 optical inputs and various others) rrp was £1499 back when it was released !!

Think I might message the seller and see if I can pick it up, as £100 seems like a bargain.

Thanks, James.

That sounds a great deal!

I have no qualms buying used audio equipment...unlike TVs, laptops etc. there isn’t a huge pace of technology improvement in audio equipment. A good speaker made 10 years ago still sounds good today. The best speakers I’ve ever heard up close are floorstanders on a mate’s Dad’s separates system which must be about 20 years old now.

My own Yamaha soundbar is about 10years old now. My KEF sub did pack in so I bought a used 350W active sub (completely forgotten the brand). The setup still sounds fantastic for films or music (usually via a sonos connect unit connected to the soundbar).

I’ve changed TV a couple of times in the meantime, but the soundbar is staying!

The Yamaha would certainly see you through in the event you did decide to look for something else - but at £100, if you don't get on with it, you aren't going to lose any money on it!

With the remainder of the budget, you could look to add a small subwoofer for some extra bass depth. If you wanted to match brands, Yamaha do a couple of little ones (although I have not looked at the connection options of the sound bar yet);

Well for £100 providing everything is working, what have you got to loose...

I'd get in there before it goes

I'd recommend the Sones Playbar, sounds great and streams music ass well (great app that connects to spotify/tidal..) a bit pricey thou..
As Andyblue says..if for £100 they work, no fault in those!
