It's more the baby than the wife. I work so much that any spare time - quiet rightly - probably shouldn't be used cleaning the car. I'll work out some sort of deal. It's actually my wife's car after all - don't think I mentioned that!

This raises a far more important question - just how do I find the time to do a proper detail? Something is always getting in the way and then I get in a foul mood because I just want to go out and banish my OCD twitches.

Why don’t you take it to a half decent detailer if your spare time is hard to come by

I feel your pain. I moved to the country about a year ago. There are loads of farms in the area and the roads this time of of year are horrendous. My saviour is Koch Chemie Green Star. I love the stuff, it’s so much better than snow foam. A liberal spray over the car wait for a bit the pressure wash off. Most of the dirt is gone in one hit. When I don’t have time for a full wash I just do a green star and rinse. Such a massive improvement. Works out cost effective about 30p a wash.

Wait until the first time she gets a new frock dirty in the side of the car and it will be time for it to be cleaned. Just make sure you're around at the time, else it will be in an auto wash.

I did a lot of detailing when my daughter was very young. Once a week I'd use it as an excuse to get an hour out of the house and relax, normally just when she'd fallen asleep. Try using the "I need a break and it's stil contibuting" excuse. Just learn to do it reasonably quickly.
