Ouch. My eyes are watering slightly...

My rugby team at school would use DH to punish various unfortunates who repeatedly committed various sins in a game (not passing and losing the ball, knocking on once too often etc) in a similar but more direct way. Certainly improved one's concentration in subsequent games

But that was in the 70s and we were savages. Nowadays, of course, if anybody tried applying DH to someone else, the Police would be called and child protection teams deployed.

Oh well, progress, I suppose.

I have this week off so decided to give the car a good going over, snow foam, wash, de-tar and then I get to claying .... .... ... ...

When I bought the car the delear agreed to have both door mirrors painted as they were both marked and one had quite a dig in it. Obviously they have someone who does smart repairs for them and while who ever does it is genuinely good at repairing and painting they can't mask up for toffee and I'm in the middle of removing what I can only describe as a mountain of overspray ! It's on the bonnet, the doors, the front wings and it's even on the side skirts.

I was going to just use Megs UC on it all but I'm conscious that the paint is thin and/or soft so I'm using BH Medium autoclay and it's just taken me about 2 hours to do one door and the side skirt.

I wanted to have it polished and sealed by now !

Happy I am not

And breath

Virgin Mobile, absolute nightmare when I needed help moving an old email address to a new phone. They wanted me to sign me up to payed service that would cost at least £50 to get help to add my old blueyonder email account to my new phone after telling me it would be 2 or 3 pounds, fortunately with a lot of patience and persistence I managed to get it sorted.

So I've spent ages today getting all the online resources and companies I use to a different email address that is really easy to move across devices !

Thanks Virgin Mobile, you mercenary pack of

As some of you will have read, I am a bachelor for the next ten days while my wife is on a business trip.

Yesterday, my 20 year old son, bless him, whose flat I pay a small ransom for, turned up and cheerfully informed me that he was moving in to keep me company. Very kind of him, and all that, but I was looking forward to some bloody peace and quiet... But I didn't have the heart to tell him to sod off.

I think he's reconsidering after being co-opted to spend the afternoon helping me move stuff out of, and then mask off, the room I'm going to paint. We had mild words. Apparently my insistence on straight lines is "anal" and he can't see the point.

Anyway, he's buggered off to the pub to see a mate, after watching the football at top volume. Grr.

Just why exactly is it that sociable people cannot get it into their heads that grumpy, anti-social gits like me are perfectly happy going days without seeing or talking to other people, even their own family?

I know it sounds very ungrateful and many people would love to have a son who was so thoughtful etc, but I just want some blasted tranquility!

What is it they say on Mumsnet - AIBU?

And breathe.

Actually, suds, we got on very well on the whole.

But, yes, he and his mum have that bond.

A visitor to work deciding to hit my car attempting to park and not fessing up till we tracked them down, to then tell me they knew they’d done it and didn’t think it was that bad...
