Winter car sorted out...

And just for a change, I’ve went for my old faithful, a Grand Cherokee.

Picking this up tomorrow... newer version than my old one by a couple of years, updated straight 6, 4 litre.

Has a few factory strange bits like a heavier rear axle, 245 spec’d tyres and extended fuel tank to 90 litres..

A bit rough around the edges, so nice and cheap, but runs great and got it for a steal as the seller thought the heater matrix was away...

Plans for it are... fix the above issue, good service and that’s hopefully about it... not going to fix any dents or scrapes and certainly not going to cover it in Zymol Royale and Vintage like my old one!

So do you get a car just for Winter? Every Winter?

Looks solid, I bet it has some torque with that engine

not every winter... I expect to last couple of years!

but yes, I normally have summer/winter cars and motorbikes... don't like the good stuff getting damaged..

bullbar is a must! just in case I destroy any snowmen covering bollards again!

With this version is was mainly cosmetic changes, although the engine has had a few tweaks to make a little more power...

I'll give it a clean, sort some issues (like the bonnet/boot strut failures and the heating) then just run it...

fleet is the 4 cars and 6 bikes...

Does it have all-season/winter tyres?

Fair enough, but the sooner these things are banned the better - they do nothing for pedestrian safety.

Looks a tidy example in fairness, with appropriate tyres i dare say it'll cope with anything the British winter throws at it.

Always liked this generation of Grand Cherokee and have nearly bought one several times as a general household hack - are the transfer boxes made of chocolate like the ones on the Cherokee - good friend of mine had one and replacements were almost an annual event?
