It could be a bearing in the box I guess aswell. Hope you get it sorted.
Well, it has only started since the engine out. It can only be the linkage now.
What was surprising was how much gunge had accumulated in the end cap, so
getting rid of that and refreshing the oil for a second go should be good in the
long run. Karl still has the car and it's on his snagging list.

Steve

Haha yeah it seems to be a trap for all the dirt to sit in. Maybe a little adjustment of the linkage will sort it. How is the linkage Spring? If wore it with cause the gearstick to move about abit when in gear. Let us know how you get on Steve

Funny you should mention that spring. I didn't know it existed until I saw one
for sale. Big smile of relief from Karl because original had more or less gone to
dust. However, it is only since the new spring that 5th gear has played-up. D'oh!

One other snag encountered is with the new choke cable. Seems that we'll need
to really fix its run, because at the moment there's enough slack for the sheath
to absorb most if not all of the return motion. Result: Choke flap closing okay,
but not re-opening

Regards,
Steve
