Arrow Magic Detail • an introduction to machine polishing • group training !!

Hello all

I have run various courses (although not openly advertised) over the past couple of years, and today I wanted to share with you a small group session I have held.

From the feedback I received it sounds like everyone got exactly what they had hoped for from the event. Hopefully I expelled some of the myths about Rotary vs DA machine too! I really enjoyed watching my padawans grow in confidence and ability as the day progressed.

The break down of the day was as follows;

Part 1:
- Paint types, an overview to soft through to hard.
- Paint thickness and gauges and how to use them accurately.
- Types of paint defect and how to spot them.
- Lighting and it's effects on paint.

Part 2:
- Introduction to 3 types of machine, regular DA, Big Foot, Rotary.*
- Masking, where what and why mask.
- Pad and polish selection.
- Defect removal, including "true correction".
- Advanced finishing.
- Glazing and it's effects on the finish.
- LSP choices, application and removal.
- Q&A.

Those who attended ranged in ability from never having held a machine before to having fully detailed a handful or so cars. I think by the end everyone was at a similar level! The event was very much hands on for the guys, I merely passed on my knowledge through direction - so the following images you are about to see are the handywork of my star pupils!!

Thanks for looking, and any comments or questions are welcome.

I will be posting details of an upcoming training event in September later this evening, so if you are interested, please keep an eye out in the machine polishing section, or in this thread (I will copy a link into this post).

I've held 1-to-1 days also, which are available on request and can be totally tailored to your exact needs.

Regards,
Matt.

It's not even that, B'ham is 70 miles away - mainly M6 to approx 6 miles from here (Altrincham, South Manchester), it takes me around an hour, just over.
