Been really busy as we are moving this weekend. My sister bought a 2004 1.1 206 for £450. Pretty good deal even though it needed new brakes and a service. Driving it home she said the rear left got really hot and was smoking! I thought it was the brakes binding but when I took the drum off the wheel bearing fell apart! I took a before/after picture of the rear brake assembly:
The right hand side shoes desperately needed changing, hardly any meat left:
I replaced both drums and wheel bearings. Don't have a press so put the drums in the oven and the bearings in the freezer; they dropped in no problem. Did the front brakes and pads, oil, air filter, spark plugs, cabin filter, and windscreen wipers. Couldn't do the fuel filter as couldn't find it! Can't believe all that came to under £200. Such a cheap car. Took me all of Saturday though.
Sunday, I got Delilah ready for an evening track session at Donnington on Thursday. Bought some track tyres (NS-2Rs - £330.80):
Took them to Kwik fit and they mounted them for £27. I was well chuffed with that, was expecting to pay twice that!
I also got some new front discs (Pagid - £85.76) and track pads (Ferodo DS2500 - £115.97):
I couldn't believe how rusty the front hub was:
Loads of rust on the inside of the disc:
The front disc on the other side wasn't great either:
Scotchbrite wasn't going to cut it so I went to Toolsation to pick up some brass wheel brushes to clean them up:
I forgot to take a picture of the cleaned up hub. Front disc before and after:
And race pads:
Forgot to put the calliper retaining clip. Fortunately it fits through the 17s style 44!
Gave the rear disc a quick clean up as well:
So here she is sitting on 17s ready for some track action:
Weather forecast says it's going to rain on Thursday so might be putting the road tyres back on.
