I'm a Wrap God

Sorry about the title

Thought I'd whack this in here as well as in the projects thread as know a few don't venture in there.

Short story, bonnet on the Bangernomics Focus got ruined, so was sanded, deep scratches filled, sanded, primed, I had put top coat on and I was never going to get the right finish... so instead of spending out on a respray that would not be worth it in these circumstances.

I did this...

Removed the washer jets which involved removing the bonnet sound insulation, pulling of washer pipes and heated electrics plugs, they then just popped out. I cleaned the bonnet twice to make sure I had got every last little spec off it otherwise it'd show.

Then sprayed the bonnet liberally with a weak mix of fairy liquid and water...this was pic was really just before I started, squeeging, stretching, heating etc etc

After a lot of manipulating, taking my time to make sure no bubbles...voila!

Not a bubble, crease or trapped bit of dirt in sight

Only issue is, the rest of the car needs a good polish and a bit of love, then I can get it up for sale.

I think if you work out how to manipulate the vinyl, it's probably very easy but it's getting that experience that takes time. I certainly don't hence it taking me 3.5 hours to just this bonnet

Looks good but not sure I would have the patience (or skills) to get that type of finish.

That looks a very nice job Starbucks.

Where did you get it from and if you don't mind how much did it cost you?

Haha thanks guys, it is a bit infuriating but if you take your time I think anybody could do a good job really.

The size I needed for this came to £29.99, from these guys:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4D-AIR-Fr...k/321057365400

It's pretty good quality, it stretches a fair bit when heated and even when it's not heated you can really pull on it without fear of it ripping/snapping.

It was only to tidy it up to sell off but I think if I had the time, I'd like to attempt a full car wrap on something else. Just in a colour though.

Looks like a decent job, well done. I think if I tried it you'd find me lying on the floor in the wrap
