I've asked the service staff not to wash the car in the past. They now always return the car in whatever state I left it in. I think it's doing them a big favour.

Informing them at time of booking in doesn't always work, it didn't in my case they still washed it. Nice brush marks all over and a dent in the wing. The dealer principal passed the complaint on to the service manager who I went to see a few days later and he said there isn't much they can do, he even said that their dent guy probably couldn't make the dent any better infact it would probably go worse. whats that about? So put a sign on the seat and one on the dash saying "do not wash" So Im on the look out for a PDR guy that is good round Manchester.

I placed a couple of no wash signs in my father's BM when I dropped it in for a new windscreen. I found the sign after searching on here and it just has a large picture with the words, do not wash

When I phoned about the car the service guy asked me a few times saying that we noticed that you dont want the car washed.

I said: 'yes that is correct'

then he said: 'are you sure as we dont want you to be unhappy when you collect a dusty car'.

I said: 'don't worry its not a problem!'.

They still wanted to wash it even and tried very hard to convince me to get it washed by them even though I had two signs in the car and also told the person when booking the car!!

I wished I had told that to my local Nissan dealership. The car always came out even dirtier than when it went in.

My local Mercedes dealership managed to leave TFR all over my smart when it went it. Never was able to get rid of it from the rear light clusters.

Mind you, if you saw how the local Merc dealership washed cars, I'm not surprised...

This is what we put in if the car is going to a main dealer. Someone on here produced it.

I do 2 things:

1. I make myself a PITA to the dealer and as a result I NEVER get my car washed - I get the service guy to walk around the car with me when I drop it off and sign MY inspection form showing zero damage to the car, and at the same time I tell him/her the car is detailed, waxed with a VERY expensive wax and must not be touched externally in any way. I leave him/her with the impression that I'll be his worst nightmare if the car is is in any lesser condition when I come back, all done in a VERY polite and amicable way. I also make sure the car is spotless when dropped off so no need to wash it.

2. I put a 'no wash' sign on the dash and the drivers seat, so there is no way anyone can avoid seeing the sign when in or outside the car

So far no dealer has ever touched the exterior of my cars

I like the idea of them signing something to say they confirm there is no damage/dents! have something to go on then if it's returned with a dent/scratch etc
