My VXR wheel refurb and looking pretty.

Hi

Had my wheels refurbed by Wheelworx a few weeks back. I felt they were letting the finish of the car down massively, really intended on getting them done as soon as I bought the car about 4 months ago but only just got round to it

Anyway was in a few minds about what colour and finish to go for and opted for Technical grey paint code L177 for anyone that is interested.

Left the wheels a few weeks after refurb to harden off properly before sealing up and then went for Gtechniq C5 as I had done on all 7 sets I had for the Lupo Purely for the fact it takes some beating for durability and is so mainenance friendly especially living 50 feet from the sea

Been away with the missus last week to for a quick 5 days in Center Parcs and took a few snaps while I was there No prizes for anyone that can spot her in nearly every pic

Gave her a quick wash before leaving (the car not Carina) and the Vintage topped up with QD again Auto Finesse Glisten for anyone else that is interested Really is a fantastic QD and gutted its not available anymore .
I've ratteled on for long enough as usual so heres the pics only IPhone quality I'm afraid and not edited.

I've seen a few of your posts around Stef, I have to say that's a lovely looking car and the best colour to have it in, in my opinion.

Your right with scuffed alloys letting the team down but I think you've made a brilliant choice to get those refurbed in that colour, it really sets it off. Nice work, look forward to seeing more of your posts. Any plans for the VXR in the future?

Matt

Thanks Matt, try my best

Really pleased with the colour combo, the arden and anthracite compliment each other nicely I think .

Yes there are a few plans, its got a 3 piece Remus system and just bought my sports cat. Its going for a pillar pod gauge conversion very soon for boost and temp guages but to look as OEM as possible . After that a black intercooler (still undecided on brand) as I want it looking pretty much standard and then the Stage 3 map should all be done in about 2 months time, just might have to put a hold on buying the detailing bits, not that I need any more After that just bits and bobs as I fancy them really colour coded hoses, more carbon bits etc .

Thanks Bazz

Luckily it was a dry day as it had done 150 miles since the wash!

Didn't look like that after being parked in a forrest for 5 days when I went to pick it up .

Looking great. Getting a refurb has been whizzng around my head for a long time but I am sure of a few things.

Whether the finish will be durable enough as wheels are close to the ground and take a lot of contamination and stone chips.

What colour to have it done.

Also powder coated or painted. A friend runs a body shop who has given me a price which I'd say was reasonable but I have it in my head the finish will not be as good as factory. Although having said that Mazda wheels are all bubbly and a bad finish anyway. He's a good painter too, got a few other bits with him at the moment.

Also not I would curb my whees lol but my other half might... They would then turn out like a sore thumb if spayed dark.
