I've Been Away Awhile: New Products, Talk To Me

Hi guys, due to a very busy lifestyle I haven't been over here on DW in a long long time, but after some advise please.

My new jobs see's a 135 mile round trip to the office, down some of Dorset's finest dirt tracks and with a new car on order can anyone recommend a Sealant (or Wax) that will help keep my car clean?

Currently I use trust old Collinite which does a fine job, but sure there has been some advances in Products since I bought this about 10 years ago!!

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts...

TAC System Quartz Shine

I'd always stuck with Collonite, but won the Quartz Shine kit in the 2014 12 Days of Christmas Draw... it's now on Doris the Runaround, SWMBO's Golf R, three of the company Caddys... see where I'm going with this

Easy to apply, great durability and simple maintenance.

Wowos' Crystal Sealant might be worth a look, or Bilt Hamber Double Speed-Wax.

I second Double-Speed Wax, prep/decontaminate the car then apply 2 coats will last a good while. Then maintenance top-ups with BSD.

Nice to see you back

Check out some of the sealants around - or if ease of use lots of washcoat style products to add something to the weekly wash routine

Back recently myself as well

I still have a cupboard full of FK1000, Colli etc as well. There's lots of new brands but mostly still doing the same old sort of stuff TBH, with a few exceptions....

The big change is that people have finally seen the light with coatings and now there is a wide range of consumer level coatings and people accept the tech has moved on and its possible to get a coating to last 2-3 years.

I still havent found anything that really outperforms a good application of FK1000, Megs 16, Farecla G3 wax etc unless you step up to a coating product but there are loads more 'super QDs' and top up products that can be used every couple of weeks to maintain protection and the finish. I'm currently playing with Gtechniq c2v3 spray sealant on my high mileage car and so far that seems to be have a great combo of really quick and easy use and good protection and making cleaning really easy - it seems stuff just doesnt like to stick to it!

No need to throw out the old stuff IMHO but some fun to be had trying a few new things if you fancy a change.

Thanks for all the input guys and welcome backs.

Is there anything in terms of newer products that actually helps keep the car cleaner from the daily drive by helping repel the dirt?

Have a read of the review of Crystal Sealant on here, the reviewer commented on the self cleaning effect, which was my reason for suggesting it
