Because there is little to no police on the roads. But yes, I've seen people with Sat-Navs/Phones mounted in places that are either a distraction or cause an obstruction to the view.

I was reluctant about the magnet (you have to attach one to your phone) but i ended buying one of these and it is really good. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Wuteku-Univ.../dp/B00T0I54Q8

I did buy a cheap thin phone case to attach the magnet to so it wasn't permanently attached to the phone, but it didn't feel as secure as contact strength with the mount was compromised slightly. There have been no issues having a magnet on the back of the phone.

You can mount bottom right-hand corner or bottom centre.
Any higher & it's illegal.

Have you checked out, " Mobile fun " Phone mounts for all shape & sizes
I use a sucker cup design tucked into bottom right of windscreen too, with a charging cable pushed into dashboard and trim gaps to hide it.

As said, its illegal to have anything obscuring vision, which is interpreted by the law as anything within the sweep of the windscreen wipers. Badges and stickers have to be passenger side bottom left corner of windscreen.

I would add my vote for Brodit mounts.

The scosche ones have a flat magnet you can put behind your phone case, mine isn’t actually stuck on

The one I have does to, but with a giant IP6s+ and the way i go round corners, I wouldn't want to trust it being secured on the inside of the case . Magnet to maget is the best way. I have an old man leather book style case on mine, so I'd have t take it out of the case anyway.
