Whats the point?

I have seen 50/50 shots and even done them myself, but I was just wondering why they were done.

Is it to show what you have done (comparison), or just to work on a smaller area?

Its the whole thing of before and after, creates a wow factor on write ups, websites and evenmore so when someone see's it in the flesh.

Thanks guys, I kind of suspected that, just wondered if there was some other reason that I hadnt picked up on.

While im on with kind of two questions at a time. Masking tape-

Is it to stop the polish/compound going on areas that you dont want to get it on or is it to stop the polish going in the shut lines? Both or whatever reasons?

When taping up rubbers/seals etc Ben, its down to ensure the vulnarable ttrim isnt burnt when polishing.
You may of seen some taping door/bonnet edges etc which is down to the paint being typically thinner than the rest of the panels.
